Julie Lowen honored for community service
Julie Lowen, founder and CEO at the Children’s Paradise Preschool and Infant Centers, Nancy Jones, a retired teacher and volunteer at the Alta Vista Botanical Gardens, and Eleanor Hutchins, a well-known volunteer, were all given awards on March 7 by The Woman’s Club of Vista GFWC.

Children’s Paradise Will Become Emergency Pick-up Locations
After a briefing on COVID-19, Children’s Paradise Preschool & Infant Centers made the decision late Friday to keep all centers open. This action was taken after serious consideration for the needs of the children and families within their care.

Colleges, schools cancel classes as Lilac Fire grows in North County
SAN MARCOS, Calif. – A wind-driven wildfire tore thousands of acres near Fallbrook Thursday, gutting at buildings while threatening hundreds of others, closing roads and forcing evacuations.
Cal State San Marcos has canceled classes for the rest of Thursday and Friday in consideration of employees and students affected by the Lilac Fire in northern San Diego County.
MiraCosta College’s Oceanside campus and Community Learning Center were also closed Thursday.

CHILDREN’S PARADISE CLOSURES – DUE TO LILAC FIRE AND POOR AIR QUALITY
As a result of the Lilac Fire burning in Fallbrook and the surrounding areas, Children’s Paradise Preschool and Infant Center in Oceanside and it’s two locations in Vista will be closed tomorrow, Friday, December 8th. Although the schools are not currently in imminent danger of the fire, the schools are closing as a result of the poor air quality. It’s corporate offices on Main Street in Vista will also be closed. As of this announcement Children’s Paradise in Escondido on El Norte Parkway will remain open.

San Diego school districts closed Friday due to Lilac Fire, winds and possible power outages
SAN DIEGO (NEWS 8) — Due to the dangerous conditions created by the Lilac Fire near Fallbrook, several schools will be suspend classes on Friday.
The San Diego County Office of Education cited forecasted Santa Ana winds and possible power outages for additional reasons for the closures.
Their statement read in part:
The safety and security of students, faculty, and staff is of the utmost importance to schools across the county.
