The start of a new school year is filled with fresh beginnings, new friendships, and exciting opportunities to learn. During the first few weeks, we focus on helping children feel comfortable, building trust, and creating connections that will last all year long. Below are a few important reminders and ways you can support your child during this transition:
Family Photos for Comfort and Connection
We invite each family to bring in a photo that can stay in the classroom throughout the year. These photos provide children with a familiar and comforting visual when they need reassurance during the day. It’s a small gesture that can make a big difference—especially during those early drop-offs.
Complete Your Child’s ASQ Within 30 Days
The Ages and Stages Questionnaire (ASQ) is a valuable developmental screening tool that helps us better understand your child’s strengths and identify areas where they may need additional support. Please ensure your child’s ASQ is completed within the first 30 days of enrollment. The insight it provides helps us individualize care and learning experiences for your child.
Creating a Smooth Morning Drop-Off
Mornings can be tough for some children (and parents!), but a little preparation goes a long way. Help ease the transition by talking with your child about their day before arriving at school. Some helpful ideas:
- Look at the lunch menu together and talk about what they’ll be eating.
- Ask who they’re excited to see or what activity they’re looking forward to.
- Keep goodbyes calm and confident—your energy sets the tone.
These small routines help children feel more secure and ready for the day ahead.
Join Our Parent Advisory Committee (PAC)
We’d love for you to get involved in our Parent Advisory Committee (PAC)! The PAC meets every other month and functions similarly to a PTA, giving families a chance to collaborate with staff, share ideas, and help plan fun, meaningful events at the center. Whether you’re a returning family or brand new, your voice is welcome—and needed!
Thank you for being such an important part of our community. We look forward to a wonderful year of growth, discovery, and joy with your child!
