What Is The DRDP?

by Nicole Steele, Chief Creative Officer

Every child develops at different times and stages, which is why Children’s Paradise utilizes the Desired Results Developmental Profile (DRDP) to observe and assess children’s development in a natural setting.

Every child develops at different times and stages, which is why Children’s Paradise utilizes the Desired Results Developmental Profile (DRDP) to observe and assess children’s development in a natural setting. The observations conducted help the teachers create informed and individualized learning opportunities for each child, with the goal of preparing them to enter kindergarten ready to learn.

Every child is assessed with the DRDP tool twice in the program year, giving the family a comprehensive snapshot of their child’s development. The assessment tool follows the child as they move through our program, allowing the family the opportunity to see how their child is progressing. When the child is 3-4 years old, additional assessment measures are added in; ensuring the child is prepared for kindergarten. The California Department of Education developed the DRDP to ensure that it aligns with California’s Early Learning and Development Foundations kindergarten readiness standards.

Keeping your child in our kindergarten readiness program allows you to see your child’s complete development from infancy to kindergarten. It’s an incredible way to ensure that your child is fully prepared for a successful transition to kindergarten!
